Jang Ok Jung - Lives in Love

Currently after Nine times time travel, the drama that manages to capture my attention is " Jang Ok Jung. This drama have not been doing well in the ratings, but for me it seems interesting enough.

Synopsis

Haute couture meets the high court in this drama based on Lady Jang Hui Bin, or Jang Ok Jung (played by Kim Tae-hee), one of the most celebrated royal concubines of the Joseon Dynasty. Lady Jang establishes herself as a coveted fashion designer who quickly finds herself sought after not only by fashionable noblewomen, but by the king himself (Yoo Ah-in). Political drama and the catwalk collide in this tale of fashioning dreams into reality!

Drama series follows the turbulent life of Jang Ok-Jung (Kim Tae-Hee), who is also known as Lady Jang Hui-Bin, one of the most famous royal concubines in the Joseon Dynasty. She began her career as a court lady who stitched clothing as a fashion designer of her time.

Jang Ok-Jung's mother was a slave, but her father was a middle-class merchant seller. When she was a teen, her whole family went on the run from slave hunters. Her older brother was lost during this time. Her father was also beaten to death and Jang Ok-Jung's mother was returned to her owner. Afterwards, Jang Ok-Jung lived with a friend of the family, Madame Jung Kang (Yun Yu-Seon). During this time she learned how to sew at Madame Jung Kang's linen shop. She also met for the first time Crown Prince Lee Soon (later played by Yoo Ah-In) around this time. Crown Prince Lee Soon spotted pickpockets stealing from Jang Ok-Jung and came to her aid. They spent a moment together while taking shelter from the rain. Crown Prince Lee Soon fell in love with Jang Ok-Jung then. Even though Lee Soon was the Crown Prince, he was basically powerless at the time. Power was actually wielded by the noblemen. This drove Lee Soon to become a powerful king one day.
As an adult, Jang Ok-Jung runs her own clothing boutique named "Booyongjung". Her handmade clothes become quite popular and in demand. Jang Ok-Jung hopes to free her mother from slavery with her earnings and eventually go to Qing with her.

Jang Ok-Jung then puts on a fashion show. Her mother's owner attends the fashion show and ruins everything for Jang Ok-Jung. She berates Jang Ok-Jung in front of all of her clients, informing everyone her mother is a slave. After the show, Jang Ok-Jung's business quickly goes downhill. A customer then requests Jang Ok-Jung to make clothes for a royal family member, which she promises to do.

Meanwhile, Crown Prince Lee Soon struggles to gain power from the nobility. He only trusts Prince Dongpyung (Lee Sang-Yeob). Lee Soon is now of age to marry. His mother and the man he despises the most, Nobleman Min Yoo-Joong (Lee Hyo-Jeong), decide that Lee Soon will marry nobleman Min Yoo-Joong's daughter Inhyun (Hong Soo-Hyun). Inhyun has been raised to become a queen from a youn age and she has never once doubted her fate. Lee Soon's mother and Nobleman Min Yoo-Joong are nervous though that Lee Soon may reject Inhyun due to her father. Because of this, Crown Prince Lee Soon's mother and Nobleman Min Yoo-Joong concoct a plan.

Crown Prince Lee Soon then sees a woman in the garden. That woman is Jang Ok-Jung, who is waiting to take his measurements. Crown Prince Lee Soon thinks she looks familiar, but he can't place where they have met before. The Crown Prince then asks Jang Ok-Jung if they have met before, but she says no.

Jang Ok-Jung later goes to her mother's owner to buy her freedom, but the slave owner refuses. Jang Ok-Jung asks the slave owner for a reason why her offer is refused and the slave owner tells her to go ask her uncle Jang Hyun (Sung Dong-Il). Her uncle is a highly ambitious man, who hopes to use Jang Ok-Jung for his own ambitions.

Meanwhile, Prince Dongpyung, the man Crown Prince Lee Soon trusts the most, takes an interest in Jang Ok-Jung. Prince Dongpyung then arranges a party where he can spend more time with her. At the party, Crown Prince Lee Soon is also there.

It is a perfectly written and directed drama. I don't know how to express it. For me, it is the best drama for 2013 so far, especially among time-travel themed dramas. I like the way it focuses on how the present changes because the past changed. Also the message it is giving out - "you cannot change the past" - is great. I like all the twists and suspense the drama is giving me. Can't wait to see the next episode.

That Winter, The Wind Blows

This is currently one of my favourite drama, surpassing drama's such as Iris 2 and 7th Grade Civil Servant.

Synopsis:

Oh Young doesn’t believe in love. She lost her father and is estranged from her mother and older brother. She also lost her vision and doesn’t know whom she can trust or lean on, although she is forced to run a large corporation as the sole heiress. Then she meets Oh Soo, a high-stakes gambler and con artist who preys on rich women after tragically losing his first love. He sees an easy target in the young, blind woman and enters Oh Young’s life by pretending to be her long-lost older brother. Can Oh Soo finish the game he started, or will his feelings for Oh Young get in the way? “That Winter, The Wind Blows” is a 2013 South Korean drama series written by No Hee Kyung and directed by Kim Kyu Tae, who worked together on the 2008 drama “Worlds Within.” The new drama is based on the 2002 Japanese drama “I Don’t Need Love, Summer,” which was adapted into a 2006 South Korean film “Love Me Not.”

Queen Of Ambition

Joo Da Hae (Soo Ae) is the quintessential girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Growing up destitute, she develops the singular dream of becoming a trophy wife one day. But it’s not all fun and games when she sets off on a journey of conspiracy, greed and malice. Kwon Sang Woo stars as Ha Ryu, an innocent man who is so deeply in love with Da Hae that he’s willing to sacrifice everything — and commit the unfathomable.

http://imgdf-a.akamaihd.net/st/v2/img/series-masthead/3847_QueenOfAmbition_000000_dark_6.jpg

I am watching this drama for Sang Woo whom I fell in love since i watched " Bad Love". He is an amazing actor, who portray emotional scene's perfectly, and SEXY ♥ for sure.. Also not to forget that Queen of Ambition also feature " Yunho". This is the first time I am watching him on screen as an actor and he has been impressive this far.

7th Grade Civil Servant

For the Month of February I have decided to watch 7th Grade Civil Servant. After Bridal Mask, I am eager to see what Joo Won has to offer in this one. Love and espionage collide in this drama of the National Intelligence Service’s rookie agents. Han Gil Ro (Joo Won) realizes his dream of becoming an international man of mystery, after a childhood spent pouring over James Bond films. Kim Seo Won (Choi Kang Hee) spices things up as a goofy, yet determined agent, but it's not all 007 glamor. Both Gil Ro and Seo Won must learn what it takes to uphold their sworn duty, even at the sacrifice of their happiness — and lives.

It has started off well..for those who want to have a good laugh, do watch it.

Opinion:

I don’t know where to start in order to express my feeling towards this drama. If  you manage to watch it from beginning till the end , then you will understand how I feel. The word that comes to my mind is “DAEBAK! ”.

Overall: Innocent Man or Nice Guy is not ordinary love story that you see nowadays, because the leading characters both are smart, not easily fooled around and they both having strong personality. You will love them ,no matter how intense and cruel the situations were.

From the very beginning , this drama has good pace. While watching it, I wonder,if we do need to sacrifice so much for someone we love? However, the story line justified my question.

http://images6.fanpop.com/image/photos/32400000/Innocent-Man-korean-dramas-32468212-1280-720.jpg

Acting: Song Joong Ki as Kang Ma Roo, is well known for his cuteness ( If you watched Sungkyunkwan Scandal, you know why I said that) . However, I was surprised on how well he transformed into the character of Maru in the Innocent Man. The coldness in his eyes, changed my perceptions toward him. He is talented and  was flawless in his acting, His acting in  seeking revenges against someone he loves so much was so raw. Things were too complicated on how he endured mixed feelings, but yet he never fails to convinced me "Maru".

Moon Chae Won as Seo Eun Gi also succeeded in  portraying a smart, arrogant, and stubborn young lady and the only daughter of Taesan Group owner. She is an awesome girl who can be in any personalities and she did it well, funny thing about her, no matter how rude and harsh she is but I bet you still love her for being bold and strong.

Park Si Yeon as Han Jae Hee also doing very good in acting although I hate her character in this drama but she succeeds for being ‘femme fatale” in this drama. Her character confusing me from the start. I tried to understand her but I’m still confused about her true feelings toward others.

Supporting roles like Jae Gil , the funniest, Choco the warmest, Attorney Park the shy ones and Attorney Ahn, the mysterious lawyer on earth were all fitted in perfectly .

Although the story is a sad melodrama but the chemistry between the leads is a KILLER !!

English translation

If only I took a step faster,
If only I took a step slower
Then we could’ve avoided our painful encounter
There’s no use even if I push you out, now I can’t let you go
Even if you want to cry, cry in my arms
Because I will die without you

My heart is crying, my heart is shouting
Because it wants to love one person
I made you cry and hurt you
But now I can’t forget you so I’m crying
My love is crying

Even when the world turned its back against me
You stayed by my side
The only things I gave you are scars
I don’t even have the right to hold onto you

My heart is crying, my heart is shouting
Because it wants to love one person
I made you cry and hurt you
But now I can’t forget you so I’m crying

You don’t know how to lie
So even when you brightly smiled
I knew your sad eyes

Love is crying, love is calling out to you
Because I can’t let you go for a single moment
Because your smile is my life
Because only you can make me live
My heart is crying

Bridal Mask

Synopsis

Based on the hit manga series of the same name, Bridal Mask brings viewers to 1930s Korea during the height of Japanese imperialism. Lee Kang To (Joo Won of Baker King Kim Tak Goo) is an ambitious and callous Korean officer employed by the Japanese colonists. Despite his mother's disapproval of his work and his own brother's antagonistic history with the Japanese, Kang To continues to play by the colonist's rules in hopes of becoming successful and bringing his family out of poverty. However, a mysterious figure wearing a traditional Bridal Mask always seems to get in Kang To's way. The Bridal Mask appears as a Zorro-like figure who protects the people from the Japanese colonists' oppression and abuse of power. An unexpected turn events brings Kang To to cross paths with the mysterious Bridal Mask, changing his future and the nation's history forever.

“Bridal Mask” Viewership Finally Hits 20%, Due to Jin Se Yeon?

Opinion:

After King2Heart, this is another great drama that manage to capture my attention. Everything about it was just flawless. It had me on the edge of my seat wanting each episode more and more. I felt each of the characters pain and happiness, the drama left me speechless. This is not a typical drama to be cutsey and over exaggerated feelings.

It’s about the struggle for a free nation by the Joseon people (that’s how Korea were called by their colonialists back in those days)by a masked fighter called Gaksital, meaning bridal mask, cuz he fights dem Japanese wearing a bridal mask and traditional white hanbok. Korea was colonized and oppressed in every damned way by the Japanese (hello we share the same colonialist, albeit for a few years) But true to fashion, er drama-sense, our hero is actually not a born and bred hero. Far from it. Well, he does come from a noble family entrusted with the mission to protect King Gojong but when it failed, the whole family flee and his father died, Lee Kang To is left with his elder brother, Lee Kang San and his mom. They live a very hard life and Kang To had to work harder everyday to support his brilliant elder brother to university. But one day Kang San is caught getting involved with rebellions and is tortured so terrible he becomes crazy. That was the last straw that breaks Kang To that he turns to work with the Japanese police force to feed his family.

But as the story goes, Kang To causes his brother’s death and in doing so he then takes up the mantel, er, mask and becomes the second Gaksital, to finish up his brother’s work, only he realizes that Joseon needs him, and he realizes that he plays a larger role on determining the fate of his people…

Joo Won, the actor, breathes perfection. He’s intense and sharp but demure and sweet when he needs be. And Park Ki Woong who plays Shunji almost matches Joo Won’s performance. I was satisfied through the entire show and will recommend this drama to anyone who is looking for a great story, action, romance, history, and want to see some Korea fight back for their country.

My Opinion:

This show opens with four distinguished-looking middle aged men attending a funeral. They even seem to be pondering their own mortality...until you learn that they're at the funeral to scope out chicks, like that guy in Wedding Crashers. Our hero, Dojin, is a successful creative type; a jerk with a good heart buried under the scruffy self-absorption. His three BFFs are Yoon, a sweet widower who works as a divorce lawyer, Taesan, a practical everyman, and Jungrok, a sneaky womanizer. It's not even two minutes into the show until a fistfight breaks out at the funeral, and we see that we're in for an all-out wholehearted comedy.

This drama is so good. The four guys are very hilarious specially every beginning of the episode. Very funny and cute. Oppa! In the beginning I’m hesitant to watch this because I am still in having a hangover with KING 2 HEART  which is one of my favorite drama and i am scared that i might get bored with this. But Oh!! surprisingly, I never thought that this is so good! Promise it brings so much emotion..Their friendship are genuine. The love story is so real… This is probably one of the funniest dramas i watched. When i first tried this drama i didn’t think i would fall in love with it this much. The four actors are really funny friends and they never fall out with each other because they are best friends since high school and they still are in their 40’s.

My favorite couple  - Perfect illustration that age is just a number:-)
