Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale" by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he's got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police - controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world - Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate.

 ♥ My opinion ♥

I did knew this movie is not the same as the original one.This movie's storyline is in between the old one and their innovative ideas hence it is like a half remake. It cannot satisfy neither those expecting an extension or an upgrade of the old movie nor the people who would take it as a whole new movie. The negative part of the action sequences is it is too rapid, the positive side it is different. The visuals are fantastic. There is lot of flaws but it is still a good movie.

Let's start with the good things. The visual effects are just marvelous. The buildings, cities, and everything was just jaw-dropping. It's full of energy. Everything that is part of the set is just so energetic and bright. This is certainly a triumph over the remake. And the action sequences come along with the visual effects. You'll be satisfied with the action sequences as there are more than enough presented here. You have action all the time and you can only catch a short break before explosions run all over the screen again.

 

Colony-dwelling sad sack Doug Quaid (Colin Farrell) dreams of a more exciting and glamorous life—he even reads a James Bond paperback as he commutes on the Fall (which, this being the end of the 21^st century, is very retro of him.) Ignoring the warnings of his co-worker (Bokeem Woodbine), Quaid insists on visiting the offices of Rekall, where he pays for a chemical implant that will give him a false memory of a thrilling past. And here’s where the story bifurcates and the whoa-dude sci-fi ideas kick in: What happens next, and for the rest of the movie, could be either Quaid’s paranoid post-implantation delusion or a real quest to liberate the Colony from its conniving occupier, Cohagen (Bryan Cranston) while being pursued by a ruthless assailant who, up until that very morning, Quaid had assumed was his loving wife.


The icily impenetrable Kate Beckinsale, Wiseman’s wife in real life, plays a woman so dedicated to her task, she starts to resemble a video-game villain—whenever there’s a lull in the action, out she pops from the shadows for another round of kickboxing. Jessica Biel, as the nice girl (or maybe just a hologram of a nice girl) who helps Quaid adjust to his new identity, is so physically similar to Beckinsale it’s sometimes hard to tell them apart—perhaps a deliberate choice on the director’s part, but if so, he should have included more scenes that played on the resemblance. As for Farrell, his sad-eyed, permanently quizzical face is well-suited for playing a character whose identity keeps becoming subject to erasure.




Just because it’s rarely original doesn’t mean Total Recall is never any fun; this is a taut, serviceable sci-fi thriller with a couple of neat visual ideas, and if you’re not familiar with either the Schwarzenegger version or the original story, the brain-bending twists alone will take you a reasonably long way.

TOTAL RECALL is very different from the 1990 film starring the 'Arnold' and personally, I like this version much better.

The writing, acting and the thought put into this drama is just pure genius. Overall, this drama is just so good.

If you're a person who loves crime, horror, mystery, detective, cyberspace, and slice of real life dramas then this is for you! Ghost is a mix of every elements that a mystery lover will come to love. Daniel Choi, So Ji Sub and Eom Ki Joon's acting are all top notch. The writing is so good and the twist in this drama will get your mind blown away, so be prepared. Everyone should give this drama a try and  I believe you won't be disappointed :)

The hacking, the internet-world and the cyber theme will probably draw you in cause we all can relate to it because in this day we all surrounded by cyber technology,smartphones, internet, laptop, social networks and so on.. Do not expect romance element in this thriller...

Venom Suria

 ♥ Synopsis ♥

Suria seorang wartawan yang periang dan berdedikasi. Dibesarkan oleh ayah tanpa ibu di sisi menjadikan dia berani dan sentiasa yakin dengan dirinya. Sebuah kes luarbiasa yang berlaku di ibukota membuatkan dia obses mahu merungkai misteri di sebalik kes tersebut. Namun semua ini menemukan dia dengan dua lelaki berbeza watak dan takdir.

Izwan, seorang anggota polis yang bersifat panas baran dan tegas. Kecewa dengan kematian isterinya membuatkan dia lelaki yang penuh dengan prasangka dan dendam yang membuak-buak. Namun pertemuannya dengan Suria, membuatkan lagaknya terkalahkan. Dia hilang suara setiap kali bertingkah kata dengan gadis yang sentiasa mahu menang itu.
Nazrul Aliff seorang yang sentiasa tenang, tetapi murah dengan senyuman. Tetapi tidak ada sesiapa yang menyangka hidupnya lebih rumit dari rupanya. Hidup sebagai lelaki terpilih menjadikan dia derita dalam diam. Lagi-lagi tugas yang harus dipikul memaksa dia menjadi pembunuh. Tapi mampukah dia? Lagi-lagi yang harus dibunuh kini sudah melekat di hati memarakkan cinta yang kian dalam.

“Kau buat apa ni?” Suatu suara keras tiba-tiba menerjah gegendang telinga Suria. Dia terkejut. Pantas jam yang berada di tangannya dimasukkan ke dalam poket. Tubuhnya dibalikkan. Seorang lelaki berdiri di hadapannya sambil memandang tajam ke arahnya. Suria terkedu memandang lelaki itu. The brilliant man! Jaket hitam yang dipakai lelaki itu serta wajah berkumis membuatkan dia teringatkan lelaki yang dicanang Haqimi kelmarin. Entah apa nama lelaki itu! Dia menarik nafas panjang. Tangannya segera dihulurkan.

“Hai, saya Suria. Suria Baharom, wartawan dari KZM News.” Dia menyusun bicara. Sedang hatinya berbelah bagi mahu memperkenalkan dirinya. Huluran tangannya tidak bersambut. Sebaliknya wajahnya terus menjadi sasaran renungan lelaki itu. Suria mula tidak senang dengan cara lelaki itu memandangnya

“Aku tanya kau buat apa kat sini? Ini lokasi kejadian bunuh. Orang awam tak dibenarkan berada di sini.” Ujar lelaki itu dengan nada lebih keras. Suria meneliti lelaki di hadapannya agak lama..

“Maasf, saya cuma nak tengok-tengok kawasan ni.” Balas Suria selamba. Lebih baik dia berterus terang dari sibuk merangka pelbagai alasan untuk melindungi dirinya.

“Siapa yang bagi kebenaran? Dan apa yang istimewa sangat pada diri kau sampai kau dapat special authority untuk ke sini dan ganggu kawasan jenayah?” Sindir lelaki itu.

Suria terpinga-pinga. Kata-kata lelaki itu membuatkan darahnya meluap-luap. Sudahlah huluran tangannya langsung tidak disambut, selepas itu dia disindir pula. Ini dah melampau. Dia bercekak pinggang memandang lelaki itu.

“Aku datang sini sebab tugas. Dan sebagai wartawan jenayah, ini hak aku untuk mencari kebenaran. Lagipun aku tak nampak apa-apa tanda pun yang menghalang aku masuk ke kawasan ni. Tag polis tu pun dah ditanggalkan bukan?” Sahutnya. Hilang sudah tanda hormatnya sebentar tadi. Kini dia bercakap menggunakan gantinama ‘aku’ pula. Padanlah dengan tuan punya badan yang berada di hadapannya.

“Walaupun tag tu dah dibuang, tapi itu tak bermakna pihak polis dah selesai dengan siasatan ke atas kawasan ni. Kehadiran kau hanya akan menganggu tugas polis.” Lelaki itu membeliakkan matanya. Suria tercengang. Peliknya perangai mamat ni! Huh! Buang masa aku je! Keluh Suria.

Suria mahu berpaling ingin beredar meninggalkan tempat itu. Namun serentak tubuh lelaki itu menghalang di hadapannya. Dia tergaman. Hampir tidak percaya dengan tindakan lelaki itu.

“Kau ada jumpa apa-apa kat sini tadi?” Suara lelaki itu mula mendatar. Namun matanya masih melekat tajam di wajah Suria.

“Jumpa apa?” Suria berlagak bodoh. Lelaki itu menarik nafas.

“Kalau kau sengaja cuba menyorok apa-apa sahaja bahan bukti yang datangnya dari tempat ni, aku boleh dakwa kau bersuhabat. Dan orang yang menyorok bahan bukti boleh dipenjarakan sehingga tiga hingga lima tahun penjara. Kau nak dipenjarakan?” Lelaki itu tersenyum. Sengaja dia mahu menakut-nakutkan gadis itu.

Suria terdiam. Dia mengetapkan bibirnya. Entah kenapa kata-kata lelaki itu membuatkan dia berang. Macamlah aku tak tahu undang-undang!

“Mana dia?” Soal lelaki itu lagi. Suria tergaman.

“Apa?”

“Aku nampak kau kutip sesuatu tadi. Mana dia? Serahkan pada aku.” Sahut lelaki itu. Suria tersentak. Aduh! Dia nampakkah? Dia teringatkan jam yang masih berada dalam poket bajunya.

“Aku langsung tak faham apa yang kau cakap ni. Mana ada aku sorok apa-apa. Tadi aku kutip duit syiling aku yang jatuh, itu aje.” Dia mengelak. Meskipun tidak berapa logik, ah..belasah ajelah.

“Kau tahukan, kalau kau cakap bohong aku boleh geledah kau?” Lelaki itu mengugut. Suria tersengih tiba-tiba.

“Nak geledah? Hah geledahlah, tapi lepas tu aku akan dakwa kau kerana mencabul. Aku tahu kalau kau nak geledah aku sekurang-kurangnya ada seorang pegawai polis wanita dekat sini. Jika tak, kau tak ada hak. Lagipun aku ni wartawan, aku boleh tulis apa sahaja yang mungkin boleh membuatkan orang awam tidak lagi percaya pada pihak polis.” Balas Suria tidak mahu kalah.

Lelaki itu terdiam. Suria tergelak kecil. Padan muka! Dia ingat dia seorang saja ke yang tahu undang-undang. Aku pun tahu! Suria memandang lelaki itu lagi. Seketika mata lelaki itu juga memandang wajahnya. Pandangan mereka bertaut. Suria tersenyum sinis.

“Baiklah Encik Polis, aku dah nak balik ni. So tempat ni, kawasan ni…aku serahkan bulat-bulat dekat kau. Jaga baik-baik, okey.” Pesannya nakal seraya melenggang di hadapan lelaki itu. Deraian tawa kecilnya meletus dari bibir, namun masih ditangkap oleh deria pendengaran lelaki itu. Lelaki itu mengetapkan bibirnya. Hatinya tiba-tiba terbakar dengan gelagat gadis itu.

 ♥ My Opinion ♥

Mazni Aznita@Anita Aruszi is really talented author. Her crime/thriller novels are interesting. I have not seen many malay authors who could write a good crime/thriller novel. She has proven again that she is willing to take the risk and dwell into different genre. The character's were developed well, just that I wish there were more sparks between the Izwan and Suria.

Hope that she keeps her good writing going and I am definitely looking forward for more good reads from her.
